This week's round up/ 10:59 PM I was working on my birthday. Initially during the interview for my present job, I had the green light to apply for leave on my birthday. But Sharman has left after ending her contract, Hayley's on leave and Jan's like only 1 week on the job, I chose to stay to help out instead. Afterall, after taking 1 day of MC the other time due to my sprained toe, I did a rough calculation and realised it will be $51 of upfront earnings forgone + potential $ from linking pple to jobs forgone + expenses incurred. It's quite a bit of opportunity cost & incurred cost involved. Anyways, it's quite cool cos my colleagues actually celebrated my birthday for me in office. Had this mini-celebration of sorts towards the end of the day. Even the senior director and asst manager came over to join in. That's not quite what you get everyday. I already suspected something has been planned since I accidentally chanced upon my team leader Jacqueline bringing the cake out of the fridge. The suspicions were confirmed when my whole office started acting weird towards 5.45pm and suddenly it feels like holiday mood in the office. They then went in for their 'debrief' and asked me to join in for the 1st time! Many thanks to my colleagues who spent the effort to make that day a little bit more special for me. Soccer last week wasn't too bad until the very last match when I went out with a bang - literally. I know it isn't my friend's fault but still, I feel he didn't have to attempt to whack the ball with all the strength he had. I cleared the ball in time unfortunately, my leg was in the way of when my friend swung his leg and my shin absorbed the full impact. I swore I heard a loud thud when his foot connected with my shin. Went to HK-theme eatery at imm yest with becca n jing. Not too bad I'd say. Quite decent for a filling meal to my standards. Xianying joined us later at my place to play mahjong. Ermz, let's just say I fare better in mahjong than playing cards. As of now, I'm in pain. I guess it'll be better being friends (first) |
