i'm a living dead./ 12:24 AM ok. I'm back at last. I almost forgot the existence of this blog if not for jingx's gentle reminder. The World Cup's finally. The highly anticipated event has proved its entertainment value once more and I look forward to what South Africa 2010 has to offer. As a punter, I'm also a little satisfied with my performance for picking the right teams, could have done a lot better but shudn't be too greedy. Whatever I've won is a bonus & I ought to be happy with what I have. Many thanks to my lucky charms who probably gave me a boost in good luck & providing me some lucky picks. I owe them a treat man... Despite having a rather hectic mounting schedule, I managed to catch 75% of the matches showed on local & international airwaves. And thanks to that, I guess my biological clock is completely screwed. Upside down, inside out. Imagine sleeping for 2hrs+ before waking up to catch the 3am match, followed by turning up for morning 100% duty. That's not even a proper rest man. But, for the sake of soccer, I guess the sacrifice was worth it. Now that the World Cup fever has subsided, life's pretty dull. Since when do you sit infront of the TV yelling vulgarities when the referee makes a stupid decision or shout with joy when your team scores a goal? I don't see that kind of celebration in reality tv, be it sg idol or wadever. I guess it's the wonder of sports. Your heart beats with the team you support. The heart beats faster in a deadly pace when a bet is involved. I call that pure entertainment. It's something that only sports can provide. Attended a Change of Command parade for my CO last friday. That I believe, would mark the final parade I'll probably have to attend in my NSF life and perhaps the rest of my life. On top of that, RSM has promised to talk to CO about giving us 1 day off for burning so much of our dismount time. Since coming back from COC, I had not been back to camp till today when I had to report for standby duties. I think it's a good idea to clear 2 days of my leave every month from now till Decemeber cos no point storing so much till the end since if everyone's doing it, chances are some of the leave will be burnt as they won't allow that many people to go on leave at any one time. After standby, went to eat @ white sands with Ignatius & Wenlong. We tried the shop beside Ya Kun (I forgot its name) and IMHO, it's pretty nice place to dine. Not the ambience but the food. Ign and I tried the set meals and for $7.60, they had 1 dish of oyster sauce vege and a drink other than the main course. Maybe I'll visit that shop again some day to try out other dish. Quite sad that I'll have to go back tomorrow for mounting. It's something like back in my schooling days when I dread going to school cos I have to face some irritating figures. I'm ok with most guys, it's the minority who's getting on my nerves. Stunners are already wtf...I've accepted them as part and parcel of my mounting life. Bastard stunners are those who take off/leave and get mc so as to save their off/leave. Indespicable. But I'm higher than that. I'll never allow myself to degrade to THAT level. Nevertheless, I'll just brave it all through cos no point letting a few bastards spoil my day. It takes great courage and sacrifices to do the right things here in FDS. People around you are always finding opportunities to smoke out. "Take the easier way out" - that's the order of the day for many. They say that if you wanna do things the right way, then you're juz being silly and cruel to yourself. I'm very impressed with my FDC buddy Fabien who's in shift 3. He has set a good example for the rest to follow and undisputedly the East IC for insisting doing things the right way. There's simply no way others can pick on him cos he's always doing things right. It's like, if you don't want tongues to wag, then don't do it in the 1st place. No wonder Fabien got 1/2 day off for good performance. He truly deserves it. On a brighter side, something funny happened today @ White Sands. I was queuing up at the SgPools outlet with Ign to buy ToTo and there was this ah ma with her grandson queuing right behind me. To stop her grandson from monkeying around, the ah ma suddenly said in mandarin "don't anyhow touch ah...if not the army uncles catch you then u noe...". WTF. Am I really THAT old? (-_-") haha... Another 1 month to go before I take leave again. More shit to come after Paya Lebar guys leave us....195 days to Pink IC. Alrites. Ciaoz! |
